Introduction

The Department of Applied Informatics at Fo Guang University upholds the university's motto, Righteousness, Integrity, Morality, and Compassion and embraces the educational mission of One Million People Promoting Education. We are dedicated to cultivating outstanding professionals with expertise in information technology and a strong sense of social responsibility.

Established as the Graduate School of Information Science in 2000, the department aims to nurture IT professionals and support the development of local information technology. In 2002, we expanded the study to include an in-service master and undergraduate program, merging under the Department of Information Technology. To emphasize "IT applications, humanistic and social concerns," we renamed the Department of Applied Informatics in 2010.

We are continuing to enhance teaching and research resources and prioritize a curriculum that bridges theory with real-world applications. We encouraged students to apply their knowledge in practice, engage in local community projects, and cultivate a spirit of service.

Our ultimate goal is to develop students who excel in IT expertise and embody humanistic values and social responsibility, making meaningful contributions to both technological advancement and societal progress.
